TE AWAMUTU CLUB. LAST SATURDAY’S RESULTS. Rain interfered somewhat- with bowls at the Victoria Park green last Saturday afternoon, but a Howden Shield elimination game, a handicap pairs match and several club draw games were played. Results:— It was intended to find the winner? for the southern section of the Howden Shield competition, the best rinks from Ohaupo, Te Awamutu, Otoro, hanga and Te Kuiti meeting, but owing to some misunderstanding Otorohanga and Te Kuiti teams did not attend. Te Awamutu (T. Finch, C. Davis, W. J. North and W. Douglas, skip) defeated Ohaupo (C. K. Edwards, J. Nicholls, G. H. Silvester and A. Emett, skip) by 29 points to 11. - Douglas got four on the first head, following with a three, two and one, thus being ten on the board before Ohaupo scored. Later Douglas got a five, and a few heads later he also got a seven, putting the result beyond doubt. In a handicap pairs match, R. Greenough and R. Free defeated H. W. Wyllie and E. Harvey, 24—12. Gee, skip) left yesterday to take part in a full-rink tournament at New Plymouth this week. VISIT TO CAMBRIDGE. Sixteen rinks (64) players) from the Te Awamutu Club are to visit Cambridge on Saturday next for an inter-club contest. On Monday (Anniversary Day) a Te Awamutu team will be competing at the Otorohanga Club’s full-rink tournament. The Club will also have representatives at the Rotorua and Tauranga tournaments next month, and also in the South Auckland Bowling Centre's annua! holiday tournament. This year the Centre will be playing Wellington city and suburban clubs, travelling south on February 24th and playing throughout the week. On Saturday, February 10th, the local club will be holding a full-rink open tournament, and visiting rinks from several of the neighbouring clubs are expected to take part.
