CLAY BIRD SHOOTING
N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP. WON BY MORRINSVILLE MAN. The well known ffiarsksman, J. McMullan, of Morrinsville, won the New Zealand Centennial clay target championship on Saturday at Auckland. The total prize money for the event was £250. There were 26 competitors. McMullan and D. .P. North, of Whangarei, tied with 49 hits out of 50, McMullan winning the shoot-off. The championship meeting extended over three days, and attracted marksmen from all over the Dominion. M. Pratt, of Otorohanga, tied with thirteen others in a ten bird eyeopened sweepstake, and in the big event on Thursday, a thirty bird match for £2OO, he was one of nine who shot their first twenty birds—and divided £so but did not get into the final. However, he divided a ten bird sweepstake with five others, and in a ten bird gimcrack match for £5O he divided with six others.
