A cheque for £476,910 for wool recently appraised at Auckland, Gisborne, Tologa Bay and Tokomaru Bay for England, has been paid into the Reserve Bank Account by the Bank of England. This announcement was made in a speech last night by the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash, who said the Marketing Department had received a cablegram to that effect from London. This was the first payment for wool bought by the United Kingdom Government, Mr Nash said. The Marketing Department was ready to make payment to brokers on prompt date. The procedure concerning the sale of wool, meat and dairy products to the United Kingdom was in operation, and everything was proceeding satisfactorily.
