BRIGHT ENTERTAINMENT

ST. ANDREW’S DRAMA CLUB. A most successful entertainment was recently held in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Hall. The programme was a varied one, consisting of three one-act plays, together with musical, vocal, and elocutionary items. This newly-formed Club is very ably led by Mrs A. B- Taylor, and for an initial performance the leader and members are congratulated for the excellence of their work. The three plays, with their respective characters, were as follow:—• “ Establishing Relations Richard Catesby, a mate in the mercantile marine, Mr C.'Flay; Wslliam Blee, a dock foreman. Mr F. Mason; Mrs Truefitt, a widow, Miss M. Ross; Prudence Truefitt, his daughter, Miss P. Snowden; Mrs Porter, charwoman, Mrs C. Rae. “ The Boy Comes Home,” by A. A. Milne: Uncle James, Mr M. G. Galloway; Aunt Emily, Miss Watson; Phillip, Mr Brian Taylor; Mrs Higgins, Miss M. Ross; Mary, the maid, Miss P. Snowden. “ The Brass Door Knob,” by Mathew Boulton: Mrs Bradbury, Mrs Brian Taylor; Mr Hawker, Mr L. Moltzen. During the entertainment vocal solos were contributed by Miss Pederson and Mr J. Garland; violin solos, Mr R. C. Judd; elocutionary, Miss A. Mairs, M.r L. Moltzen, and Mr C. Flay; instrumental quartet, Mr Smith and family. At the close of the performance Rev. J. C. Young moved a hearty vote of thanks to all assisting performers and also to the helpers. He paid special tribute to Mrs Taylor and the members of the Club for the success of their first effort.

A tasty supper was served by the ladies.
