GARDEN PARTY
CATHOLIC WOMEN’S LEAGUE. The monthly meeting of the Te Awamutu branch of the Catholic Women’s League took the form of a garden party at the Convent School yesterday afternoon. In spite of inclement weather, which necessitated everything being held indoors, brisk business was done at all the stalls. During the afternoon the children entertained visitors with musical and elocutionary items, which were thoroughly enjoyed The various competitions were keenly contested, the results being as follows: Doll’s house, Maire Moriarty; handkerchief sachet, Mrs Delaney; picture, Mrs Carter; nightdress P. C. Hoban, Waikeria Road; handkerchief sachet, E. J. Krippner; lamp shade, T. J. Brill; Xmas cake, W. Marshall, Te Mawhai; cushion, Mrs Crotty; blue dish, Mrs Noonan; vase, Mrs Glass; tea cosy, Mrs Carey; bottle perfume, Miss Bowler; rooster, Mrs Carthy; doll, Mrs F. Delaney, Frankton Junction; goose. Rev. P. O’Flynn; pink Xmas cake, Mrs Harden; framed picture, Francis Odium; traycloth, Mrs J. Gibson-Smith; box chocolates, Mrs C. J. Matthews; lamb, Griffen.
