WEDDING BELLS

WALTERS—STOBIE. (Our Otorohanga Reporter.) A marriage of wide goldfields and King Country interest, was solemnised at St. John’s Anglican Church, Waihi, on November 25, the Rev. Canon J. L. Kyall being the officiating clergyman. The contracting parties were Joyce Irene, elder daughter of Mi- and Mrs J. Stobie, of Waihi Beach, and William Francis, younger son of Mr and Mrs Frank W. Walters, of Rangiatea (near Otorohanga). The bride looked very graceful as she entered the church with her father, who gave her in marriage. She wore a very charming gown of angel-skin lace, the bodice being shirred in the front and trimmed with tulle—giving a bolero effect. The full-length sleeves formed a point over the hands and the long skirt flared from the waistline into a long oval train trimmed with frilled tulle and sprigs of orange blossom. Her tulle veil, which was held in place with a halo of orange blossom, fell, to form a second train. Her bouquet comprised lilies and maidenhair fern. Miss Nellie Walters, sister of the bridegroom, Miss Cynthia Byrn, of Waitetuna, and Miss Phyllis Stobie (sister of the bride) were in attendance. Their respective frocks of blue Belva-winged organza, were cut on similar lines to that of the bride—with full flared skirts trimmed with pale pink velvet ribbon sashes—alike. Their picture hats were in perfect harmony—being trimmed similarly, and each carried a shower bouquet of pink and blue toned seasonal blooms.

Mr Albert North (Waitoa) functioned as best man and Messrs. Bruce Malcolm (Papakura) and T. Somerville (Otorohanga), as groomsman. Messrs Fred Biss (Te Aroha) and Ron Harris (Waimaukau) were the ushers. A largely attended reception was held in the Foresters’ Hall, which had been beautifully decorated in shades of pink and blue. The Rev. Spencer (Te Awamutu), acted as Master of Ceremonies. During intervals vocal numbers were rendered by Mrs Ron Powell (Matamata), and Mr H. E. Walters (Ngahape). The bride’s mother received the guests wearing a very becoming navy ensemble, with accessories to tone. The mother of the bridegroom was costumed in a dark ensemble, with hat and shoes in harmony. The former chose a bouquet of cyclamen shaded blooms, and the latter carried a posy of clover shaded flowers. The bride travelled in a nigger-brown costume, silver fox fur and accessories in harmony. After a motoring honeymoon, Mr and Mrs Walter will settle on the land in the Otorohanga-Mai-hiihi district.
