BEAUTY MASKS

With the arrival of spring flowers and warm sunshine women are naturally anxious to look as fresh and smart as possible, too. The shops are full of lovely clothes and interesting novelties for our adornment, but equally urgent is the need literally to put a fresh complexion on the matter.

Even if the trying winter weather has not had too bad an effect on the skin, a thorough facial spring clean is indicated if sunny days are to be faced fearlessly. The most certain way of achieving immediate and lasting results is to treat oneself to a beauty mask. Although beauty masks are one of the oldest ways of achieving loveliness (one noted skin specialist possesses a formula which is 1200 years old) they still rank as favourites. This is because they bring youth not only to the visible part of the skin, but carry it to the deeper tissues too. Theirs is the power to impart a clear radiance of complexion, a fineness of skin texture, and a new firmness of face contour. Nor is it necessary to endure lengthy and expensive salon treatments in the process, for the same results may be obtained in the blessed privacy of your own home. There are various good and reliable face masks from which to choose. One of the most fascinating and successful is compounded from unusual ingredients which include the essence of fresh water lily buds. It has the advantage of being suitable to every type of skin. As it immediately banishes all traces of fatigue it is useful as a quick rejuvenant before an important social occasion.

After the face has been well cleansed the mask should be spread liberally all over the face with slighly damp finger tips and left on for at least half an hour. It can be removed by pressing the face with a cloth which has been wrung out in hot water.

When all the mask has been removed the face must be thoroughly dried, then given a quick treatment with cleansing cream in the usual way. After this a lotion for closing the pores should be applied.
