WEDDING BELLS

ALLEN—PEPPERCORN. An attractive wedding took place at Holy Trinity Church, Tauranga, on Saturday, November 25, when Ward Charles Arthur Allen, elder son of Mr and Mrs A. B. Allen, of “Bauri,” Te Awamutu, was married to Florence Sidney, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A. E. Peppercorn, of Tauranga. and formerly of Leamington. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. O. S. O. Gibson, the church being decorated by friends of the bride. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked really charming in a satin gown, with real orange blossoms. Her veil was arranged in a halo fashion, and she carried a beautiful bouquet of white roses, peonies, watsonias and maidenhair fern. Her bridesmaid, Miss Nora Reese, of Cambridge, wore a charming frock of maize-coloured chiffon with gold thread, and Juliet cap and flowers to tone. The bridegroom was attended by his brother as best man. As the bridal party left the church the Cubs formed a guard of honour, and Stan Gilpin presented the bride with a silver horseshoe. The reception was held at the Continental Tea Rooms, where the guests were received by Mrs Peppercorn, who wore a navy figured ensemble, with hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of red and white flowers. Mrs Allen, mother of the bridegroom, wore a navy costume, with hat to tone, and carried a bouquet of gold and mauve flowers. When the bride left for the honeymoon she wore a figured frock with a pine green coat and accessories to tone.

The bouquets were made and given by a friend of the bride.
