MATINEE SPORTS. • The matinee sports meeting at Albert Park on Wednesday evening last, under the direction of Te Awamutu Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club,- ~ was somewhat marred.by the bolsterous and cold weather conditions,- hht each event was keenly contested. A: Robertson, scratch, 1; T. ■ Dalziel, 25 yards, 2; J. McAneny, 65 yards, 3. - Robertson went away fast, and soon had command, going on to win nicely. The winner is Tooked upon as a dis.tance rider (recently he won th North Island 100 miles road cham- ” pionship, Palmerston North to WclZ lington), but he showed on Wednesday evening that he can also sprint with the best of them. 100 yards handicap: L- Cullen, 12 yards, 1; J. Phillips, 19 yards, 2; D.' Paul, 8 yards, 3. Six started. Won convincingly. 880 yards handicap: L. Cullen, 70 yards, 1; D. Paul, 25 yards, 2; K. Rickit, 70 yards, 3. Won easily.
