KIHIKIHI AFFAIRS
MEETING OF TOWIN BOARD. WATER SUPPLY SCHEME. The ordinary monthly meeting of Kihikihi Town Board was held last Tuesday evening, members present being Messrs W. Q. McGhie, J. A. Marquis, F. E. Lehndorf, and R. P. Robinson. In the absence of the chairman, Mr McGhie presided. Following a request by the Board for a report on the water supply scheme, the engineer, Mr Lloyd Mandeno, advised that he anticipated that the proposal would be dealt with at the next meeting •of the Loans Board, and he thought it would be authorised, as the medical officer of health had favourably reported on it after one or two slight alterations. Mr Mandeno pointed out that a considerable amount of correspondence had passed with the various Departments, some of which had held up the plans for a considerable time, and caused delay; but the matter now lay with the Loans Board for favourable consideration. Tire report was received.
The Minister of Internal Affairs forwarded suggestions for forming committees of local residents to further any scheme or function for patriotic purposes, and exempting certain patriotic purposes from the Emergency Regulations, 1939. Received.
Accounts amounting to £4O were passed for payment.
