TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN. IT has come to my knowledge that certain persons * (of whom at least two are known to me) are circulating false statements alleging that I am of German birth. 1 am a New Zealand-born British Subject. I ■ did not wait for conscription in the Great War, bitt I endeavoured to enlist in New Zealand, England, and America, but was rejected on account of health on all three occasions. Later 1 was accepted for service in the Mercantile Marine 'Reserve, where I was engaged until the termination of hostilities. I publish these facts as a warning to those who (for personal reasons) are propagating malicious statements, and 1 will not hesitate to take action to clear my reputation unless such statements cease at once.
