HAMILTON STOCK SALE. Messrs Newton King Limited report that at their Frankton stock sale on Tuesday a good yarding came forward in all sections. In the fat cattle section a large entry maintained late rates.. Prime ox. beef made £l4 to £l6, medium ox beef £ll to £l3 10s, light ox beef £9 to £lO 15s, prime cow beef £l2 10s to £l4, 'medium cow beef £lO 5s to £l2 ss, light cow beef £8 to £lO. A good yarding of store and boner cows created keen competition, resulting in values being slightly ahead of last week’s quotations. Heavy boner cows realised £3 10s to £4, lighter boner cows £2 15s to £3 ss, inferior boner cows £1 10s to £2, Shorthorn yearling heifers £3 to £3 ss, Jersey yearling heifers (small) £2 to £2 15s.

Sheep: An exceptionally big entry was received in the fat sheep section, and prices showed an easing tendency on last week’s rates. Prime wethers made 30s to 345, medium wethers 26s 6d to 295, light wethers 22s 6d to 25s 6d, prime ewes 26s to 295, medium ewes 22s 6d to 255, light ewes 19s to 225, fat hoggets 19s 6d to 22s light hoggets 17s to 19s. Pigs: A good yarding of both baconers and porkers met with spirited competition especially in the porker section, where values were much better than at last sale. A medium yarding of stores and weaners was penned. Large stores created keen competition from a good bench of buyers, prices being 3s to 4s better than at last sale. Medium baconers made £3 8s to £3 10s, light baconers £3 4s to £3 7s, heavy porkers and butter-milk pigs £2 14s to £3 3s, medium porkers £2 8s to £2 12s, light porkers £2 to £2 6s, large stores £2 to £2 6s smaller stores £1 l{ss to £1 19s 6d, slips £1 8s to £1 13s 6d, best weaners £1 to £1 5s 6d, other weaners 17s 6d to 19s.

At the above sale, held in Frankton yards on Tuesday, an exceptionally heavy entry of fat sheep came forward, with values for all classes of wethers showing a slight decline. In most cases prime fat ewes maintained late values, but unfinished lots were easier of sale. Best fat hoggets suitable for local trade sold readily, but forward-condition and store hoggets declined a little on late quotations. Cattle? The beef- entry included a good proportion of prime ox and cow, with values for ox beef slightly easier and cow and heifer beef remaining steady. Top price of the sale was £l7 ss, realised for a prime heavy bullock sold on account of Mr H. Finlayson, of Tuhikaramea, and £l6 5s was reached for a pen of the same cattle sold by Mr H. Vickers, of Ngahinapouri. Boner cattle were again in good numbers, with late quotations fully maintained. Pigs: There was a larger yarding of fat pigs, prices remaining buoyant at late rates. Good-quality buttermilk pigs were in keen demand, and realisations were highly satisfactory to vendors. Baconers remained firm at last week’s rates. Quality porkers were penned in small numbers, and prices accordingly showed a slight increase, and unfinished porkers and large stores sold freely at advanced rates. .A medium yarding of stores and weaners met a keen demand at prices fully up to recent quotations. Sows with litters realised satisfactory rates.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, of Hamilton, reports as follows on the firm’s Hamilton stock sale held at the Frankton yards on Tuesday:— Sheep: A further exceptionally big entry of sheep was marketed, the yarding for the greater part being inferior in quality to previous yardings. However, the demand for the better-class sheep was in advance of previous sales, and a complete clearance of fat sheep and fat hoggets was effected to a large bench of buyers. Several good lines of wethers were offered, chief of which was a line from the Waikato Pacing Club. Prime wethers made up to 29s 9d. Another good line from Mr R. H. Brinkworth sold readily from 27s 6d to 28s 6d; and prime 2-tooth ewes on account of Mr T. C. Cole realised 26s 6d. We quote: Prime fat wethers 28s 6d to 29s 6d, medium-quality ditto 26s 6d to 27s 6d, lighter ditto 23s 6d to 265, light to -store wethers 18s to 225, prime fat ewes 25s to 26s 3d. prime fat hoggets 22s to 23s 6d, others to 18s.
