SOCIAL FUNCTIONS

FAREWELL TO MRS ROBERTS. FROM INSTITUTE EXECUTIVE. A very happy little party was held at the home of Mrs W. P. Locke on Thursday afternoon, where members of the executive of the Te Awamutu Women's Institute assembled to bid farewell to Mrs 11. E. Mrs G. Angus, vice-presi-dent, asked Mrs Roberts to accept a beautiful hand worked table centre, and an autograph book containing the signatures and good wishes of her fellow members. Mrs Angus referred to Mrs Roberts’ happy disposition and the keen interest she had always taken in the Institute’s progress. Her legion of friends would miss her greatly, but all joined in according hearty good wishes for pleasant limes in Australia. Mrs Roberts made a graceful acknowledgment. A dainty afternoon tea was partaken of. Those present were Mesdames W. P. Locke (hostess), H. E. Roberts, A. 11. Roberts, G. Angus, F. K. Cobb, W. G. Adams, F. W. J. Wilkening (Pokuru), H. J. Webber and H. Lines. Apologies for unavoidable absence were received from the other three members of the committee, Mesdames N. J. Winch, W. F. Whitton and S. J. Laurence (Te Mawhai).

CROQUET AFTERNOON. AN OTOROHANGA FAREWELL. The Otorohanga Croquet Club’s greens were en fete on the occasion of a special afternoon given by Mesdames Urquhart and Baikie to farewell Mrs Still (a popular member of the Club), who is leaving the district.
