OHAUPO STOCK SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., report having held their usual Ohaupo sale on Friday, August 11, when a good yarding of cattle came forward and a total clearance was effected at full late rates. We quote.—Fat S.Hsteers £8 to £9; heavy fat Jersey cows £5 to £6 10s; boner cows £2 15s to £3 ss; light boner cows £2 to £2 10s; springing Jersey heifers £9; more backward sorts £6 10s to £7 10s.

MORRINSVILLE SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., report on their usual weekly stock sale on Friday. Fat sheep and a full yarding of all classes of cattle came forward. Competition for dairies was much keener than last week all Jots being sold under the hammer. An entry of prime fat sheep from Mr L. H. Larner sold at satisfactory prices. Wethers made 255, maiden ewes 23s and 21s; and heavy fat ewes 245; there was a good demand for store cattle buyers being present for all sorts offered and a total clearance was made under the hammer. Maiden fat Jerseys £5 7s to £6 10s; heavy boners £3 to £3 14s; medium boners £1 17s to £2 17s 6d; lighter 12s 6d to £1 15s. Dairies: Good quality springing Jersey heifers £lO to £ll 10s; springing Jersey heifers £8 to £9 15s; more backward sorts £6 to £7 10s; Jersey cows close to profit £8 10s to £lO 10s; later calvers £6 10s to £B. Store cattle; 2-year P.A. steers £6 10s to £7; 15 months P.A. steers £6 3s to £6 ss; P.A. cows r.w.b. slow condition £3 7s; yearling Jersey heifers £4 to £4 7s 6d; small do. 30s to £2 10s.

TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited, Hamilton report as follows on their Te Awamutu Stock Sale, held on Thursday: Cattle: A medium yarding of ox beef sold at rates nearly on a par with Frankton rates. Fat ox on account of Messrs W. J. and S. M. Thompson made to £ll 18s; a good entry of cow beef sold well at late rates, fat cows on account of Mrs S. Smith, Paterangi, making to £9 4s; while a pen of fat heifers from the same vendor sold to £8 Is; fat and forward Jersey cows sold at advanced rates on Frankton, while boners met with a steady sale at late rates. Store steers in most cases did not reach vendors reserves. We quote: Fat ox £ll to £ll 18s; light £lO to £lO 12s 6d; unfinished to £7 6s; heavy fat cows £8 5s to £9 4s medium £7 to £7 17s 6d; fat heifers £7 12s to £8 Is; lighter £6 15s to £7 ss; fat Jersey cows £6 to £6 15s; forward Jersey cows £4 15s to £5 10s; lighter £3 10s to £4 ss; heavy boners £2 12s to £3 ss; medium £2 to £2 10s; store steers to £5 Is; Jersey yearling heifers to £3 17s; medium sorts to £3; yearling Jersey bulls to £4. Dairies: There was a very buoyant sale for all classes of dairy cattle of which there was a very large yarding, the greater part consisting of heifers Good quality heifers, close to profit, made to £l3, while the same class of cow made to £l2 10s; with the sale throughout generally being consistent at rates well in advance of Frankton rates. We quote: Dairy cows, close to profit £ll to £l2 10s; poorer sorts £8 to £10; good quality cows but backward £8 10s to £9 15s; others £5 to £7; quality heifers close to profit £ll 10s to £l3; good sorts £lO to £11; more backward £7 to £8 ss.

Sheep: The highest price in the Waikato this year was obtained for a pen of 19 prime wethers sold on account of Mr R. H. Hinton for 345; ewes and hoggets also met with a good inquiry, values being steady on Frankton rates. Several pens of breeding ewes met with a fair inquiry. these being disposed of at satisfactory prices. We quote:—Prime fat wethers to 345; medium 29s 6d

to 30s; store wethers 20s to 225; fat ewes 17s to 17s 9d; killable hoggets 16s to 17s 6d light hoggets 14s to 15s; store hoggets 7s 6d to 10s 9d; in lamb ewes to 18s 6d; cull ewes 3s 6d to 6s. Pigs: The largest yarding of fat pigs for some time was offered. Keen competition from a large bench resulted in improved values on other sales. A pen of heavy bacon selling for £3 18s; our offering of store pigs was also a very large one, the demand being exceptionally keen with a marked increase in prices over pre vious sales. A number of medium quality did not attract the competition expected. The only passing in this yard occurred in this section. We quote; Heavy baconers to £3 18s; medium do. £3 13s to £3 15s; light do. £3 7s to £3 Ils; large buttermilk pigs £3 to £3 4s heavy porkers £2 18s to £3 4s; medium do. £2 12s to £2 17s; lighter do. £2 7s to £2 Ils; choppers to £2 15s best qualitv medium stores £2 to £2 4s 6d; smaller do. 34s to 38s; medium large stores 38s to £2 3s;' medium do. 33s to 37s best slips 29s to 32s 6d; best weaners 24s to 38s; others 16s 6d to 21s; sows with litter to £6 10s; sows to farrow, fair quality £3 5s to £4 ss.

MORRINSVILLE STOCK SALE New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd. report as follows on their Morrinsville stock sale held on Friday. A very large yarding of cattle came forward including the advertised 350 head of station bred cattle ex Gisborne. The fat cattle entry was an average one and. comprised mostly fat Jersey and. boner cows. The market throughout was good and late rates were well maintained. The advertised station bred cattle attracted a large attendance of local and outside buyers and right throughout competition was keen and a total clearance was effected. A full yarding of dairy cattle came forward and sold before .a large bench of buyers. Prices throughout were good and a total clearance was effected. A. full yarding of yearling Jersey heifers was penned and competition on these Was keen and last week’s good prices were well maintained. We quote:— Medium fat Jersey cows sold from £4 15s to £5 12s 6d; fat Jersey cows £4 2s 6d to £4 12s 6d; heavy boner cows £3 7s 6d to £4; medium boner cows £2 15s to £3 ss; others from 30s to £2 10s; station bred cattle arrived in fair condition considering the long journey of 7 weeks by road. The majority of them were rather on the small side but of good quality. Medium 24 year P.A. steers £5 5s to £5 17s 6d; small 24 year P.A. steers £4 to £4 12s 6d; yearling P.A. steers £3 15s to £4 ss; small 18-months P.A. steers £3 5s to £3 12s 6d; 18-months P.A. heifers £3 10s to £3 18s; smaller sorts £2 15s to £3 ss; 18-months P.A. heifers £3 to £3 12s 6d; empty P.A. cows £2 15s to £3 12s 6d; in calf P.A. cows £3 10s to £3 15s; small yearling Hereford heifers 30s to £2 ss.
