HOSPITAL WATER SUPPLY

NEW SPRING LOCATED. For some time the source from which the cottage hospital draws its supply of water has not been satisfactory, and though efforts have not been spared to prevent shortage, for the past few days there have been fears of a water famine. The institution has been supplied from a well, the water being pumped to a height corresponding with the hospital hill and carried to a reservoir thereon by gravitation. Sand at the well bottom has always given trouble and pumping could only be proceeded with under risk of sand chokage. It is good to know that the trouble will shortly be overcome, as a spring has been located and tested on Mr E. H. Schnackenberg’s property, and it is proposed to gravitate sufficient water for all requirements of the hospital from the spring to the well, thence by pumping and the present gravitation run into the reservoir as hitherto. The volume of flow is equal to 12,000 gallons per day.
