NATIONAL DANCING

WAIKATO WINTER SHOW CONTESTS. MANY SUCCESSES FOR TE AWAMUTU. The juvenile dancing competitions at the Waikato Winter Show are always attractive, and they create a good deal of interest. This year the contests were quite up to the standard of the previous best, and it is pleasing to note that competitors from Te Awamutu and neighbourhood were able to hold their own with opponents from other centres. An outstanding achievement was that of Miss Ailsa Docherty, the wellknown dancing instructress. Her pupils competed in 37 classes, and registered 32 firsts, 31 seconds, and 23 thirds—a record that probably iswithout equal in New Zealand. Results of Te Awamutu interest are:— OPERATIC DANCING.
