MOTORING ACCIDENT

MR F. H. MOORE SUSTAINS BROKEN LEG. Reports to hand concerning the condition of Mr Frank H. Moore, of Te Awamutu, who was involved in a motor accident on the HamiltonOhaupo section of the main highway, indicate that his condition is satisfactory. Mr Moore suffered a fractured leg. It appears that he was coming home from the Waikato Winter Show, and (when near the former Lochiel golf links, a few hundred yards north of Ohaupo School, in fairly dense fog, he arrived on the scene of a collision caused by a fairly dense fog, and alighted from his car to inquire if he could be of any assistance to the occupants of the other vehicles. While doing so another car arrived, and ran into the rear of Mr Moore’s car, throwing him heavily. When Mr Moore was picked up it was realised that he had sustained a fractured leg and other injuries. A St. John Ambulance at Hamilton was sent for, and Mr Moore was removed to hospital- The full extent and effect of the collision are not yet ascertainable, but it is gathered that two cars collided, rendering them unfit to proceed, though neither driver was seriously injured. Then Mr Robertson, of Paterangi, arrived on the scene, followed a few seconds later by Mr Moore, and still later by a fifth car. All the vehicles were more or less involved; and thereafter there was a steady accumulation of cars until, before the “ road clear ” signal was given, the number exceeded a hundred. Some of the vehicles took advantage of a piece of the old road in order to get past the scene of the delay, but others were held up for about an hour.
