MAIN HIGHWAYS
IN WAI.PA COUNTY. Reporting to to-day's meeting of the Waipa County Council, the engineer (Mr J. W. Civil) made the following reference to general construction on main highways: Frankton ■ Pirongia main highway: Contract No. 357: Two miles 45 chains of stabilised top course have been laid down, work in progress, and li miles of sealing have been completed. Kihikihi - Arapuni main highway, contracts Nos. 348 and 355: Two miles 48 chains have been sealed, which completes both contracts from the junetjon of the Great South Road to 30 chains past Parawera Junction. Estimates for main highways construction and maintenance for year 1939-40 have been prepared and forwarded to the resident engineer, also estimates for Public Works grants Te Awamutu - Pirongia main highway: A start has been made on engineering survey of this highway foi next season’s programme.
