SALVATION ARMY

VISIT OF LIEUT.-COLONEL BURTON. In order to organise the work of The Army most effectively, the practice has been in operation since the early days of the movement to appoint experienced officers over various sections and types of work. In this way the work in each country is controlled from headquarters by wellqualified leaders. In New Zealand Lieutenant-Colonel Burton has the oversight of all Army Corps (a term similar in scope to Churches) and the spiritual work of preaching the Gospel, visiting, teaching and organising meetings engaged in by the Field Officers is under his jurisdiction. Tl%e Colonel has had well over 40 years’ experience as a Salvationist and his practical advice and help is greatly appreciated by Officers and Soldiers everywhere.

This week-end the Colonel will be conducting meetings in Te Awamutu and everyone is invited to hear him. The meetings at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday in the Oddfellows’ Hall are open to the general public and all can be assured of a welcome at The Army. On Sunday, 3rd July, The Salvation Army will be holding its first meeting in the Pokuru Hall at 2.30 p.m. A bright Gospel service is promised and all residents are invited.
