DIVORCE GRANTED

PETITION BY HUSBAND. £2OO DAMAGES AWARDED. A petition for divorce was heard iff <ho Hamilton Supreme Court before the Chubf Justice, Sir Michael Myers, and a jury of 12 yesterday, when Colin Sinclair Walker, carpenter, of Arapuni (Mr J. F. Strang) sought a decree nisi against Julia Walker (Mr W. J. King) on the grounds of adultery. "James Johnson McGill, butcher, of Arapuni (,Mr S. S. Preston) was named as co-respondent, and £2OO damages was claimed. Mr Strang said that petitioner and respondent were married in 1918. Petitioner was to-day 63 and his wife, was 41. Counsel stated that in August last year Mrs Walker left her husband and went to live with co-respond-ent. A statement signed by respondent and co-respondent admitting- the allegations brought against them was produced by Mir Strang. Petitioner gave evidence that at present his wife and McGill were living together in a house at Arapuni. Mrs McGill and her children were living in a house on the opposite side of the street. Doris Adelaide McGill, wife of corespondent, said she had instituted proceedings against her husband at Putaruru for a separation order on the grounds of persistent cruelty. Mr King and Mr Preston said they would 1 ke the matter completed, on behalf of their clients, Avith as little delay as possible. The jury found that adultery had been committed by respondent and co-respondent, and awarded petitioner £2o'o damages. His Honor granted petitioner a decree nisi, and fixed costs against corespondent at £25.
