BOOM IN OTOROHANGA
BUILDING ACTIVITY. MANY NEW STRUCTURES. ■ (Our Resident Reporter.) There is quite a boom in building activity in the main streets of Otorohanga at present and no doubt this will be accelerated when the Town Board puts its £lO,OOO sewerage scheme under way. Mr A. J. McGovern is having erected on a valuable site in Maniapoto Street three modern reinforced concrete shops, and Mr R. Green is building two similar shops in the same block. Mr B. A. Fama is the designer and builder of these fine shops. A local company has commenced a new concrete building between the Union Bank of Australia and Messrs Bremner Bros.’ garage; and the large new premises in Tuhoro Street, built to the order of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, are now completed and occupied by the firm’s local agent, Mr W. B. McAdam. Plans are being prepared for a big block of buildings on the property recently owned by Mr L. G. Armstrong (Te Awamutu) on the corner of Maniapoto and Tuhoro Strets, in the heart of the town. Despite the high and ever-rising costs of building activities, numbers of private residences in the town and district are in course of construction, indicating the faith of property-own-ers in the future of Otorohanga and its rural environs.
