CROQUET CLUB
ENJOYABLE SOCIAL AFTERNOON. PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. A most enjoyable and well attended social afternoon was held in the Town Hall annexe on Wednesday last, promoted by the social committee (Mesdames Zohrab, Nelson and Meredith) of the Te Awamutu Croquet Club, to afford opportunity for social intercourse between members and the presentation of prizes won in competition play during the season just closed. The proceedings were most sociable, and after cards had been played for an hour or two, and a delightful afternoon tea partaken of, Mrs C. G. Downes was called upon to present the trophies, which she did as follows: Collins Cup, Mrs A. V. Cole; Goodall Cup. Mrs G. Paul; most-improved player this season, Mrs Nelson; progressive competition—A grade Mrs Cole, B grade Mrs S. Clark; break competition—A grade Mrs S. Dowds, B grade Mrs Paul. Thii following ladies were present: M’esdames H. C. Rainey, R. Noonan, D. McArthur, S. Dowds, G. O. Jourdain, S. J. Nobes, N. Goodall, R. Stewart, O. O’Brien, W. E. Woodward, S. Clark, H. J. Webber, A. H. Woods, L. Nicholson, A. V. Cole, J. Ryan, Hamilton, M. McNair, F. W. Bevin, Zohrab, Nelson and H. Meredith.
