RADIO FOR INVALIDS

HOSPITAL INSTALLATION. SUNSHINE LEAGUE’S PLANS. Plans are being made by the Hamilton Sunshine League to have radio pillow phones installed in every bed in the Waikato Hospital. For some months the League has been negotiating for the provision of these facilities and acting on the advice of Mr R. Dixon, a set has been obtained from the United States of America. On Wednesday evening a demonstration of the phones was given to members of the League, and it was discovered that the modern appliance was far more effective than the old type of pillow phone possessed in most hospitals. When the new phones are obtained they will be the most modern in Australia and New Zealand. A United States firm has been written to by the League asking for estimates of the price. It is hoped that the Government will help the League by removing the duty off the consignment, and once the price has been obtained the authorities will be approached with a view to obtaining some sort of agreement.
