VALEDICTORY. PRESENTATION TO MR K. GIBBS There was an exceptionally large attendance of members of the Te Awamutu Golt Club at the club-fious • on Saturday evening, when a social was tendered Mr K. Gibbs, who nas. been promoted to become the manager ot the Customs Street branch of the Union Bank, Auckland, for which city he leaves in a day or two. A very pleasant, time was spent in games and competitions and, during an interval in the supper, kindly prosided by the ladies, Dr F. C. Blundell, president of the club, addressed those present, expressing the regret that one and all felt, at the departure cf Air Gibbs, who had been an enthusiastic member of the club, to which he had rendered yeoman service as treasurer, especially during the last year or two when the club had purchased its own property. On. behalf of members, he had much pleasure in presenting Mr Gibbs with a gold wristlet watch as a memento of his association with the club, to mark the members' appreciation of the excellent services iie had rendered as treasurer and io symbolise their good wishes for future good health, happiness and prosperity. Mr Gibbs, who was accorded musical honours, appropriately acknowledged the kindly sentiments which prompted the presentation, and thanked the president and members for their good wishes. AFTERNOON PARTY. An afternoon party organised by the local Plunket Society in aid of the Nurse Patrick Memorial Fund was held at the residence of Mrs C. W. Rickit on Friday afternoon, and besides proving a most enjoyable function, resulted in a good sum being raised toward the object in view. The drawing room had been artistically decorated for the occasion, the display of beautiful chrysanthemum blooms evoking particular admiration. Mrs Mandeno was successful in the bridge competition, and Mrs Russell was the winner of the euchre contest. Among the ladies present were: Mesdames C. W. Rickit, W. Jeffery, Friedlander, Downes, Heath, Reese, Dawson, Oliphant, Bluck, Chalmers (Auckland), Marsh, Pollard, Potts, Armstrong, Locke, O’Brien, A. H. Storey, Mandeno, Wiseman, Dunn, Russell, Warburton, McArthur, Clark, Phillips (Auckland), Paul, North, Houston, Whyte, Connal, Rust, Bockett, Webber, Blackburn, A. L. Storey, Montefiore, Parker, Bevin, McGovern, D. McKay, Blundell. Muir, Otway, Edmonds, Self, Hutchinson, Wood, Ross, Hall, Roberton, Misses Storey, Neilson, Brewer and Hall.
