WOMEN’S DIVISION
KORAKONUI BRANCH, The Kcrakonui branch of the Women’s Division held its usual monthly meeting in the Korakonui Hall on Friday last, the president, Mrs Froggatt, being in the chair. There was a large attendance of members and visitors and a most enjoyable and successful afternoon was held. Mrs Neill (president of the Te Te Awamutu branch) and Miss Ey.'e (housekeeping secretary), visited the branch and read their reports on Conference. Miss Eyre also gave a most interesting demonstration on making rugs out cf old felt hats. Both these ladies were accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. Mrs Orr wen the stamp competition for the month and Mrs Whitfield won the prize for - the marmalade. A most enjoyable afternoon tea was served, the hostesses being Mesdames McDonald, Norton, Orr and Miss Moyle.
“Bring in the oysters I told you to open,” said the head of the household, growing impatient. “There they are,” replied the new housemaid proudly. “It took a long time to clean them, but I have done it at last, and thrown all the insides away.” “How did you find your steak, sir?” asked the waiter in a very expensive restaurant. “Just by luck,” the hungry patron replied sadly. “I happened to move that small piece of potato, and there it was!”
