SALE AT TE AWAMUTU. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., Hamilton, report that at their Te Awamutu Stock Sale held on Thursday there was a particularly keen enthusiasm shown by buyers in all departments, notwithstanding that handlings were heavy. Fat apd Store Cattle: There was about 150 head of beef and 100 stores, and boners, several pens of yearling and 2-year store steers, and 50 yearling heifers. The ox and cow and heifer beef market was extremely buoyant and prices were right up to the best of the late advanced rates. On account Mr W. C. Murphy, medium Hereford bullocks made from £l2 to £l2 6s; on account Mb W. Bird light cattle of the same class up to £ll 2s 6d; Messrs H. & S. Rhodes sold 3 lighter ox at £lO 15s; from £l2 10s to £l4 was paid Mr S. Thompson by Mr D. J. McAlpine for same prime S.H. heifers. A line on account Mr J. L. Macky, of P.A. heifers realised £lO 7s 6d to £l2; up to £ll was obtained for P. A. heifers account Mr W. McGee. The top price for fat S.H. cows was paid to Mr J. R. Flay who secured from £l2 18s to £l3; Messrs Kirkham Bros, sold prime S.H. cows up to £l2 15s; and Mr A. L. Rockall some up to £l2 ss; right through the sale the demand was consistently brisk, stores sharing in the animated inquiry.

Dairies: Of approximately 380 head, r slight majority of heifers was en.ered. The average quality of these would be slightly better than at the previous sale. The entry included the advertised herds on account Mr ■I. Papesch, Mr E. Hopping and Mr J. Culloty. A particularly large attendance of buyers were present, coming fifom .as far 'disfranilfa s King Country, Te Puke, Rotorua, Huntly, Cambridge and Hamilton. An animated sale transpired and practically the lot were absorbed, the range of prices being equal to the best of late quotations. The top price in the dairy section was paid for an outstanding Jersey heifer sold on account Mr- L. R. Kay and bred by Mill. O. Kay, Parawlera, £l6 5s was paid Cor this beast by Mr G. Sheep: Fat and store hoggets accounted for the principal part of the entry but as well a few pens of fat wethers and ewes came forward. A bright sale took place and the inquiry for store hoggets lacked none >f the eagerness among fat buyers for grown sheen. A pen of extra good fat hoggets on account Mr Hards realised 38s 6d each. Other heavy hoggets made 28s Gd to 34s 6d; medium do. 24s to 27s Gd; g-ood ewe iioggets up to 345; small store ewe loggfets 24s to 275; store w.f. weher hoggets 25s to 26s 9d; store b.f. hoggets 22s to 245; heavy fat wethers 37s 6d to 395; medium do 25s to 36s 'id; extra heavy fat ewes up to 37s ■ Id: others 24s to 27s 6d.

Pigs: Roughly 700 were penned. Most were stores and weaners, but luite a good proportion were fat pigs, but. heavy baconers were scarce. Fats sold on a par with Frankton reaisations. Notwithstanding the abnormally large supply, a good demand vas maintained throughout with rates registered being similar to those quoted last week. Medium baconers made £3 7s 6d to £4; light baconers £2 16s to £3 ss; heavy porkers £2 Us to £2 15s; light do. £2 4s to £2 >os; best store pigs 35s to £3; medium do. 30s to 345; slips 24s to 30s; weaners 18s to 20s; small do. up to 17s Gd

MEDIUM OHAUPO YARDING. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their fortnightly stock sale at Ohaupo, when a medium yarding of cattle came forward. All classes sold under keen competition, and a good clearance was made at late market rates. No heavy fat cows were yarded. Quotations:— Light to medium fat Shorthorn and Holstein cows made £7 13s to £8 3s. medium fat Jersey cows (good) £7 10s to £8 3s, light fat heifers (Jersey and Shorthorn) £6 15s to £7 13s, unfinished cows £5 5s to £G ss, boners £2 10s to £4 10s according to weight and condition, store cows £4 2s 6d to £5 ss. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd., report having held their Morrinsville stock sale on Friday as under:— A medium yarding composed mostly of fat and fleshy cows and Jersey heifers sold under keen competition, the whole yarding changing hands. A pen of ten fat Polled Angus and Hereford heifers on account of Mr E. W. R. Leslie, of Putaruru, and purchased by a local butcher, Mr W. Timming, realised £l3 15s.
