FINDING EMPLOYMENT
SOUTH AUCKLAND ABSORBS 244 MEN. EMPLOYED BY LOCAL BODIES. It is announced that work has been found for 244 men in various parts of the Waikato, Northern King Country and Thames Valley as a result of the winter employment scheme put forward by the acting-Mrnister of Labour, the Hon. P. C. Webb. The men will be employed for four months at a total wages bill of approximately £16,700, and when the winter period is over the placement office expects that it will be able to place a fanproportion of the men in other work. The allocations to the various local bodies which met and conferred with the Minister are as follows:—Hamilton Borough Council, 2'o; Waikato County Council. 10; Raglan County Council, 16; Raglan Town Board, 1; Ngaruawahia Borough Council, 7; Otorchanga County Council; 12; Huntly Borough Council, 10; Hamilton Domain Board, 6; Te Awamutu Borough Council, 4; Matamata Borough Council, 6; Piako County Council, 5; Cambridge Borough Council, 5; Te Aroha Borough Council, 10; Coromandel County Council, 40; Ohinemuri County Council and Paeroa Town Board, 20; Morrinsville Borough Council, 10; Thames Valley Drainage Board, 10; Thames CountyCouncil, 20: Thames Borough Counci’, 15; Hauraki County Council and Drainage Board, 14.
