TOTAL OF 209,497. THE REGISTRATION FIGURES. The grand total of motor vehicles, including motor-cycles, registered m New Zealand at June 36, was 269,497, representing an increase of 21,912, or 11.68 per cent., on the figure at the same date last year. In 1925 the total was 166,449, indicating that in 12 years the number of motor vehicle in the Dominion has nearly doubled. Motor-cars show the largest aggregate increase, 18,448, over last year’s figure, but the greatest proportionate advance is in “other vehicles,” a classification which is described as including “contract motor vehicles, taxis, rental and private hire cars, ser. vice cars, Government vehicles,’ exempted vehicles and trailers.” There were only 2.88 per cent, more trucks, and motor-cycles decreased by 2.65 per cent. There were 148,867 cars, 35,980 trucks, 11,072 other motor vehicles, and 13,578 motor cycles. Auckland district had 28,660 cars and 8676 commerical vehicles, Thames 5555 and 633, and Hamilton 13,064 and 4564. Auckland postal district (which includes North Auckland), had 3212 motor-cycles, Thames 444 and Hamilton 1025.
