HAMILTON STOCK SALE. The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Co. Ltd. report: —Sheep: At Frankton sale on Tuesday a good yarding of fat sheep, including many good quality pens. The entry met with a steady demand and sold on a par with last week’s values. A larger number of fat lambs came forward, and these sold at firm schedule rates. The advertised entry of store wethers and hoggets from the Waerenga district attracted a good deal of attention and realised very satisfactory prices. Breeding ewes made late values. Cattle: A smaller yarding of all classes with ox beef especially in short supply. Most of the yarding comprised cow beef, the quality of which was not up to last week’s standard. Competition was firm and late rates maintained. A smaller entry of boner cows sold on a par with recent quotatons, and a number of pens of yearling Jersey heifers elicited fair enquiry, values remaining firm. Pigs: A short yarding of fat pigs, values again being firm, especially for baconers. which were in keen demand and sold at prices in advance of late quotations. A good yarding of stores and weaners, with competition very keen and prices well in advance of recent sales. Horses: Stock ponies £5 to £5 ss. Figs: Only a small yarding of pigs came forward, comprising chiefly medium stores. Competition was keen and prices realised were fully up to late quotations. OTOROHANGA STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co,. Ltd., Hamilton, report as follows on their stock sale, held at Otorohanga on Wednesday:—Cattle: A full entry was comprised of a few medium to good quality cows, a majority in the store section of boners and unfinished cows, several pens of young stock and a heavy entry of dairies, including the advertised herd on account of Mr W. Irvine. Fat and store cows maintained price levels ruling at other centres at present and for yearling heifers and pen of 18 months steers bidding was very brisk.

On the whole tho quality of the dairies was only mediocre, and a good proportion were late as well. Considering this, the prices obtained were quite satisfactory. Any young cows due early drew good competition. Medium fat Jersey cows £4 5s to £5 7s 6d, unfinished condition £3 12s 6d to 14 2s 6d, heavy boners £2 15s to £3 12s 6d, others up to £2 10s, yearling heifers £3 14s to £3 17s, pen of 18 months S.H. store steers £5 2s 6d, medium Jersey dairy cows £7 10s to £8 15s, plain quality and late calvers £6 to £7 ss, inferior sorts up to £5 15s. Sheep: Quite a fair entry came forward. It included mixed aged breeding ewes, store wethers, with most being fat find forward lambs. The demand was good and prices consequently very satisfactory. Pen of 108 m.a. ewes 30s, pen of 62 store wethers 295, extra prime fat lambs 25s to 365, medium fat lambs 245, store lambs 15s to 18s. Pigs: In line with conditions at other recent sales store pigs advanced appreciably, while fats remained on a par. Medium baconers £2 15s to £3 2s rorkers up ro £2 10s. medium stores 25s to 31s, others up to 245. CLEARING SALE AT NGUTUNUI. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., Hamilton, report as follows on a clearing sale held on account of Messrs Jordan Bros., Ngutunui, on Wednesday: Young cows in condition and due early sold very well at prices equal to those prevailing. A fair proportion, however, were back ward calvers and this to a certain extent kept the average down. The attendance of buyers was large and altogether the sale was very satisfactory. Good young Jersey cows due July/August £ll to £l2 ss, medium do £9 to £lO 10s, later calvers £8 to £9. backward cows in low condition £5 15s to £7 15s, mare £3O, sow pigs up to £4 17s 6fi, milking machine £4B.
