SYSTEM CRITICISED
FARM ACCOUNT BOOKS. The existing system by which tax inspectors may demand to see farmers’ accounts for five years back, whereas the farmer, in applying for a refund, can go back only three years, was criticised at the Waikato subprovincial conference of the Farmers’ Union on Tuesday. A motion by Mr A. Briscoe-Moore that the Minister of Justice, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, should be asked to limit the period for which books must be kept to three years, was carried.
