ESSAY COMPETITION. FOR LADIES AND CHILDREN. CLOSING DATE EXTENDED TO MONDAY, JULY 19th. JN connection with a Special Farming Edition of TE AWAMUTU COURIER, to be issued on MONDAY, 26th July, entries are now being invited for Essay Competitions to be held in conjunction therewith. “WOMEN AND THE FARM.” The first Essay Competition is open to all ladies in the district. The subject is “ Women and the Farm,” and the articles should not exceed 1000 words. The first prize will be a cash order to the value of £2 2s on an advertiser in Te Awamutu Courier—the successful competitor to choose which one; and the second prize will be an order to the value of £1 Is. with similar conditions. COMPETITIONS FOR CHILDREN. There will be two competitions for children, the prizes for which, all payable in cash, will be 10s, 7s 6d, and 2s 6d. The competitions will be divided into two classes, one of which will be confined to school children over 10 years of age. The subject will be “ The Farm,” and the essaymust not exceed 500 words. The second competition for juveniles will be restricted to members of dulyconstituted Calf Clubs, and the subject for essay in this instance will be “ The Work of a Calf Club.” The essaymust not exceed 500 words. All entries from children must be duly endorsed by the local school teacher as being the bona fide individual effort of the competitor, and the age of each entrant must be stated. Entries close with The Editor, Te Awamutu Courier, Te Awamutu, on MONDAY, JULY 19th, and envelopes containing entries should be endorsed as follows: (1) “Ladies’ Competition.” (2) “ Children’s Competition Over 10 Years.” (3) “Calf Club Competition.” ADVERTISEMENTS.
