OBITUARY

MR F. J. WALLACE. Korakonui district lost one of its most esteemed settlers on Wednesday by the death of Mr Francis James Wallace, who succumbed in a Te Awamutu private hospital following an operation. Deceased, who was born at Kaikoura, Marlborough, sixty-two years ago, came with his wife and family of three daughters to this district about eighteen years ago, and after some time spent at Hairini Mr Wlallace acquired a property at Korakonui, and proceeded to bring it to a highly-productive state. Though never actively connected with any local or public bodies, he took his part willingly in any community effort, and won the esteem of all with whom he was associated. He retired from farming about two years ago to reside in Te Awamutu. His widow and family (Mrs K. Bottomley, of Waitoa, Mrs James Jamieson, of Korakonui, and Miss Wallace, of Te Awamutu) will have sincere sympathy in their bereavement. The funeral is to take place this afternoon, interment being at Te Awamutu public cemetery.
