WHAT OF BRITAIN?
WHERE ARE THE LEADERS? “The nation has been compelled to confront a strange crisis at home; it must rally all its forces of courage and character in face of the menacing situation on the Continent. Thousands of people are being forced to think. To many, especially among the younger generation who are now marrying and founding their own families, life, as they have known it in the post-wap world, is' best described by the overworked word ‘hectic.’ They live at a feverish speed, yet they are not satisfied. Critical of the past, they have not discovered how to use the present. They agree that the old standards are obsolete, but they have not yet discovered new ones to take their place. The young whom we have in mind are not immoral, on the contrary, they are eminently ser-ious-minded, but they’ are confused about the theoretic standards, of morality; they have let religion be crowded out. The fault lies largely with their leaders.”—“Church Times.”
