DEFENCE RIFLE CLUB. FINAL SHOOT OF SEASON. (Our Resident Representative.) The Otorohanga Rifle Club’s final shoot on the 500 yards range created maximum local interest among the nxarksmen and their partisans. The following are the winners and runners-up for the various trophies donated:— Service championship: L. Onion 272, L. Palmer 263. Johnson trophy: T. Melville 180, J. Onion 180. Holmes trophy: J. Onion 181, L. Palmer 174. Club championship: L. Palmer 607, B. Palmer 540. Westmacott trophy: J. Onion 264, F. Hyde 263. Grahame’s trophy: H. Graham 186, J. Onion 182. Palmer-Hyde trophy: L. Palmer 282, T. Melville 281. J. H. Graham trophy: F. Hyde 93. L. Palmer 88. Handicap aggregate: T. Melville 584, B. Palmer 579. A changing wind made good marksmanship difficult.

OTOROHANGA GUN CLUB. At a largely-attended shoot of the Otorohanga Gun Club automatic traps were used for the first time by the Club, and proved very satisfactory. The results of the principal events were; — Colonial Ammunition Company’s trophy, 6 birds, 14 entries: Ten of the shooters got their birds, and shot off for the trophy, Sutton being the winner. The six-bird eye-opener drew 16 entries. The following shot the ‘possible, and divided: Murray Pratt, W. Signal H. W. Carter, G. Lissington, W. Elliott, E. Benton, W. Seymour, and T. McCready. Fifth round of Pratt Cup, 16 entries: Eight shot the possible of 12 birds, and divided the sweep money. In this event G. Garvin, a young shooter, had a run of 50 birds straight --an outstanding performance. In the fourth shoot sweepstake, double rise, there were 14 entries. G. Benton won outright with the possible. In the fifth shoot, double rise, six pairs, there were 11 entries. Murray Pratt and C. Benton shot the possible and divided the sweep. W. 11. Holmes also shot the possible, but was not in the sweep. This shooter broke 23 out of 24 in the double rise.
