GALATEA ESTATE
A PROMISING OUTLOOK. Mr D. Bryant, of Hamilton, who has just returned from a visit of inspection to the Galatea Estate, is very optimistic regarding its prospects. “What struck me very forcibly,” he told an interviewer, “was the manner in which the place is being farmed at the present time, and I should say everything is done in a very practical way. The stock is in excellent condition and handled to. the best advantage. “A portion of this estate is, to my mind, amongst some of the best land in the Auckland province, that part being a drained swamp. I know full well that the roading must have cost a goed deal of money, but it not only opens up the Galatea Estate but also a good deal of country in the surrounding district, and the whole thing is, tc my mind, a real national asset. “It seems to me that sections of about 100 acres, as the Government is making them at the present time, will be sufficient to maintain a family fairly well, and I should say if well farmed a man wojuld have no difficulty in milking 50 cows, providing turnips and hay are grown for winter feed.
