JERSEY CLUB

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. SEVERAL MATTERS OF INTEREST. A meeting of the Te Awamutu Jersey Club committee was held on Friday evening, the president, Mr Hamilton Allen, presiding over a good attendance oi members. The assistant secretary, Mr L. A. Johnston, reported that several complaints had been received from buyers of stock, who stated that transfers had not been available at the time of the sale of the stock, with the consequence that the cows could not be marked. The president said that matters bad become very lax, and something would have to be done to right them. He gave instances of cases where the transfers had been delayed for 12 months and more with great inconvenience to tlie purchasers of the beasts. It was decided to send the correspondence to the parent association for its ruling on the matter. Resignations were received from Messrs H. Meadway, A. M. Rennie and R. A. Paddon. A complaint was received from an entrant at the recent sale in connection with the fact that his entries had been classed as not up to standard and had been reserved until the end ot the sale. The writer protested against the treatment he had received from the judge, and stated that when his beasts were eventually offered they failed to draw a bid. In reply to the writer, Mr Pattison said that he had seen the entries mentioned, and he was of the opinion that they were outstanding rejects. One of the bulls was not up to standard as regards type and condition, and the other failed to reach type requirements Commenting on the sale, Mr Allen said that in some cases tattoo marks had not been evident on the entries, and he suggested that at the next sale the club should enforce the rule stating that the tattoo be shown in the catalogue. Members were of the opinion that cn the whole the sale was very successful, and the values received were very good. Mr Pattison said that when it was compared with those of some of the other centres the Te Awamutu Club had every reason to be proud of its catalogue. In view of the changed conditions, and the fact that there had been no reply on the matter from the parent body, it was decided not to go any further in the matter of conducting a club show at Te Awamutu, as had been proposed at the annual meeting. Reporting on the financial position of the club, the secretary stated that the club had a credit balance' of £63. Mr E. Bennett, of Ohaupo, was nominated as a new member.
