AS REPORTED IN THE WAIPA POST ON OCTOBER 13th, 1911.

Mr Les Cohen, who is leaving for Taihape, was entertained last night by friends at “Ivanhoe.” Last night, at the appointed hour, insufficient members to form a quorum were present for the Chamber of Commerce meeting. The president adjourned the meeting. A few minutes later several members arrived only to discover that punctuality is a rule of this institution.

A public farewell, largely attended, was held on Wednesday to do honour to Mrs, the Misses and Mr Fred Potts, on the eve of their departure from the immediate district of Te Awamutu. Mr C. Bowden, chairman of the Town Board, presided, and to Mr Potts he presented a library of modern books, to Miss Potts a necklet and pearl pendant, to Miss K. Potts a pearl pendant, and to Mr Potts a case of silvermounted pipes. The promoters of the function were Misses Bond (2), McCabe (2) and Hamilton, Mesdames McCabe, Bond, Storey, Kay, ( Rickit, Abler and Galbraith, with Mrs Wm. Taylor as secretary. At a progressive euchre tournament the prizes fell to Miss McGovern and Mr 11. H. Thompson, consolation prizes going to Mr F. D. Wood and (Miss) Algie Gif ford.

Mr R. Green has been appointed to the Otorohanga Domain Board in place of Mr F. Lowe, who has left the district. The Town Board has asked the Government to open a branch office of the Survey Department at Te Awamutu.
