NEW ZEALAND HERD-TESTING ASSOCIATION. THE AUGUST FIGURES. The New Zealand Herd-testing Association’s butterfat production figures for August show that the average from 58,046 cows under test was 648 lbs milk, 4.58 test and 30 lbs fat. For August last year the 50,659 cows tested gave an average of 641 lbs milk, 4.64 test and 30 lbs fat; while for August, 1934, the figures were: 53,228 cows tested, 653 lbs milk, 4.47 test and 29 lbs fat. One cow in the Te Puninga group gave 103 lbs fat. The herds in Te A'wamutu and neighbouring districts compared very well with those in other parts of the Testing Association’s territory, as will be seen from the following:— The 936 cows in Te Kawa group averaged 648 lbs milk, 4.67 test and 30 lbs fat. The best herd average was, 41 lbs fat from 15 cows, while the best cow gave 68 lbs fat. In the Te Awamutu group, the 561 cows averaged 657 lbs milk, 4.82 test, and 32 lbs fat. The two top herds averaged 48 lbs fat, and the best individual produced 83 lbs fat. Hairini group’s 577 cows averaged 608 lbs milk, 4.95 test and 30 lbs fat. The best herd, 17 cows, averaged 45 lbs fat, and the-best cow gave 78 lbs fat. Kaipaki group, with 1423 cows, averaged 652 lbs milk. 4.74 tost, and 31 lbs fat. The best herd average was 45 lbs fat from 27 cows, and the best cow produced 72 lbs fat. Kawhia group’s 243 cows averaged 696 lbs milk, 4.51 test, and 31 lbs rat. The best herd, two cows, averaged 47 lbs fat. The best cow gave 59 lbs fat. The 1465 cows in the Kihikihi group averaged 656 lbs milk, 4.74 test, and 31 lbs fat. The best herd, 20 cows, averaged 41 lbs fat, and the best cow gave 74 lbs fat. Paterangi group, with 633 cows, averaged 668 lbs milk, 4.71 test, and 31 lbs fat. Two herds tied for top place with 39 lbs fat, and the best cow gave 67 lbs fat. Otorohanga group, with more cows than any other group in the Association (2668 cows), averaged 579 lbs '.nilkj_4.4B test, and 26 lbs fat. The best herd average was 43 lbs fat from eight cows, and the best individual producer gave 78 lbs fat.
