MORE DEVELOPMENT
NATIVE LANDS IN WAITOMO ELECTORATE. NGAHAPE AND PIRONGIA DISTRICTS. That the Government is intent upon developing areas of land in the northern part of the King Country is evidenced by the information received oy Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitomo, from Mr J. N. Campbell, Undersecretary for the Native Department. _ ~ It is announced that tie following blocks have been included this year m the Departments development plans in the Waitomo electorate: — Pirongia district: 10581 acres,' comprising Waiwhakaata 3E 2 section 2, 1194 acres; Mangauika IB 1,291 J acres; Whakairoiro 5C 282, 1091 acres; Whakairoiro 5C 2C, 100 acres; section 8, block 8, Pirongia S.D., 66 acres; Kopua IK 2, 345 acres; section 11, block 12, Pirongia S.D., 27 acres. Ngahape district: 1310 acres, comprising part Rangitoto A 1A and Al 82, section 7, 8061 acres; section 5, 423 acres; section 4, 80 acres. Waitomo district: 200 acres, comprising Hauturu East 2 section 3A 1, 661 acres; section 3A 2, 661 acres; section 3A 3, 661 acres. Mangapu district: 630 acres, comprising Pukenui 18, 35 acres; Pukenui 2N 2B 1, 186 acres; Pukenui 2P 1, 4121 acres. Pio Pio district: 1266 acres, comprising Aorangi 3D 28, 46 acres; 3D, 781 acres; Bl Al, 120 acres; Bl A2, 3191 acres. With regard tv the Pirongia and Ngahape areas, it is understood that adjoining owners are objecting to their inclusion, but meetings are being held with the view to overcoming these objections. There is, we understand, a further area in the Kaipiha block, south of Pirongia, for which the Department is negotiating, but matters have not yet advanced sufficiently for any definite information to be given out.
