NOVELTY CONCERT

WAIKERIA ENTERTAINERS HELP ST. JOHN AMBULANCE. Many of our readers realise the fact that the local organisation of the St. John Ambulance Association is raising funds with which to erect a,n ambulance station on the site granted to it by the Borough Council, and an opportunity is now afforded everyone to show practical interest in the project by attending the novelty concert to be given in the Empire Theatre to-morrow (Thursday) evening by a talented party of entertainers from Waikeria. This very clever combination gave a concert at Hamilton recently, and patrons were very appreciative—in fact, endeavours were made to have the concert repeated in that town. Te Awamutu folk are assured of well over two hours’ of entertainment, including some first-class vocal items, choruses, instrumental itemst, and novelties. Sea chanteys and Maori items will be featured, and some wonderful conjuring. The admission prices (sixpence for children and one shilling for adults) are probably the lowest ever fixed ’for an entertainment of this Waikeria party’s standard, but they were purposely fixed at those figures to give everybody an opportunity of enjoying the fare provided, and at the same time contributing in at least some measure to a worthy cause for the St. John Ambulance Brigade has already done splendid work locally—and should be encouraged to go on to further success.
