MALNUTRITION

COMBATTING RICKETS. A leader writer in the “Glasgow Herald” makes the following interesting point: “Within five years the number of deaths, from rickets —a disease closely associated with malnutrition—has been halved. This fact plainly suggests that the standard of health is rising, and that there are no grounds for making sweeping statements implying that under-nourish-ment,, with all its bad effects is common, or that its existence is being toleralted by the Government. Admittedly we have a good distance to go yet before we attain a quite satisfactory standard of national health. But gradual progress along certain lines should do much to improve the physical well-being of the people.”
