TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., report as follows on their Te Awiamutu stock sale, held on Friday last t —‘Fat and store cattle: A very full yarding including many lines of choice quality ox, cow and heifer beef. Buyers both from outside and Waikato centres, were plentiful and throughout a really wonderful sale resulted. The top price in the ox-beef section was obtained for a pen of five medium, P.A. bullocks sold on account of Mr P. C. Hoban for £l5 12s 6d each, the buyer being the Farmers’ Meat Co., of Cambridge. Messrs W. J. and H. H. Thompson entered a draft of light S.H. bullocks which sold up to £l2. A choice consignment of 18 S.H. cows and heifers from thci Waikeria Borstal Institute sold briskly up to £ll 2s 6d. Mr G. Wellington was the vendor of a number of P.A. and Friesian cows and heifers which made up to £ll ss. Mr W„ C. Murphy sold S.H. cows up to £lO 17s 6d. Mr W. J. Long obtained £ll 12s 6d for the best of his Friesian beqf cows. Heavy Jersey beef realised up to £9 ss, this price being secured for one young finished cow of several sold 'by Mr A. J. McGovern. There was a consistently strong tone to the bidding throughout and whilst cow and heifer beef values compare very favourably with those of other recent sales ox values were definitely up sharply. Stores and boners, too, created keen rivalry among bidders. Medium conditioned P.A. fat bullocks £l3 to £l5 12s 6d, lie-lit fat S.H. steers £9 12s 6d to £l2, finished quality S.H. and Friesian fat cows £9 to £ll 12s 6d, prime ditto heifers £8 15s to £ll ss, good conditioned S.H. fat cows £5 7s to £8 10s, heavy Jerseys £7 10s to £9 ss, medium ditto £5 10s to £6 10s, killable quality ditto £3 10s to £5 ss, stores £2 10s to £3 ss, boners £2 ss, 2-year empty Jersey heifers £4 2s to £4 7s. The special entry of yearling heifers aroused much enthusiasm and prices were better than expectations. On account Mr S. Smith, Patera ngi, we sold 75 head which realised from £4 13s to £5 3s. All also from other vendors were sold. Dairy Cattle: In this section approximately 300 head were nenned. A full bench of buyers were operating and prices particularly for the better class ones tended to advance. Most of the entry were heifers and a good proportoin were choice sorts. The secondary quality was also fairly well sought. Practically nothing was; unsold and competition was maintained to the end. Choice heifers due August £9 5s to £lO 10s. m'edium dairy heifers £8 to £9, plainer sorts £6 10s to £7 15s, inferior and late £5 to £6 ss, good types dairy cows £6 to £7 10s, others £4 5s to £5 15s. Sheep: A small entry with a strong demand caused an appreciation in rates. Most of the grown sheep were average quality only. Some. ewe hoggets and whitefaced store wether hoggets were keenly competed for. Medium conditioned fat wethers 29s to 335, light ditto 26s to 28s 6d, medium fat ewes 24s to 275, heavy fat hoggets 26s to 295, good conditioned ewe hoggets 28s to 335, good store white-faced wether hoggets 25s Id. Pigs: Few heavy baconqrs we entered, but light quality and porkers came forward in fair numbers. Fats maintained Frankton rates under steady competition. The entry of stores and weaners was quite a large one and a brisk sale took place especially at the commencement, but towards the end values eased a shade. However, practically all sold. Medium baconers £2 16s to £3 2s, light baconers £2 11s to £2 15s, heavy porkers £2 3s to £2 10s, light ditto 36s to £2 2s, buttermilk pigs 32s to 35s 6d, best Store pigs 28s to 33s 6d, medium ditto 23s to 27s 6d, slips 17s 6d to 21s, best weaners 14s to 17s, others to 13s.

MORRINSVILLE STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports as follows on the firm’s stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday:— Our entry, although smaller if anything than normal, contained a fair scattering of medium-weight fat Jersey cows. Competition was steady from a good bench of buyers, and realisations were about on a par with last week’s Frankton quotations. Store-qualiy cows and boners, too, maintained former levels, all entered selling. The demand for dairy heifers was satisfactory, and prices remained stable. We quote: Mefijumquality Shorthorn fat cows £6 15s to £7 19s, lighter-conditioned ditto £5 15s to £6 10s, good-quality Jersey beef cows £4 10s to £5 10s, killable and lighter ditto £3 5s to £4 ss, heavy stores £2 10s to £3 2s 6d, heavy boners £1 17s 6d to £2 ss, others £1 15s, medium dairy heifers due early £6 5s to £7, backward and plain £4 5s to £5 15s.

NGARUAWAHIA HORSE FAIR. New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. Ltd., Hamilton, report as follows on their Ngaruawahia horse fair held on Wednesday:—An entry in the vicinity of 75 head came forward. The majority however were medium to light fa,rm draughts, heavy horses being comparatively scarce. The gathering of buyers was a fairly large one and especially for good class working horses a very satisfactory sale was effected. Hack prices also were about equal to those ruling at other recent sales. The greater part of the entry changed hands. A7c Mr K. Welch, Taupiri, a. heavy draught mare realised £55, being bought by Mr J. Bowen; Mr W. F. Saunders, of Bruntwood, sold medium draughts up to £35; Messrs Herbert Bros, sold a mare at £37 to Mr W. Thomas, a gelding at £35 to Mi- G. Bull, and lighter draughts to £35; Mr Leo Wilson was the vendor of a bay gelding which made £3B, Mr D. Spanton being the buyer; best heavy draughts £45 to £55, medium farm draughts £35 to £45, more aged and poorer horses £22 to £33, medium hacks £6 10s to £9, others up to £6.

TE ANGA STOCK SALE. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company reports as

follows on the above sale, held last Friday:— A representative but only moder-ately-sized entry of cow and heifer beef came forward, there being yarded a few forward fat steers as well. Store and boner cows were also entered in fairly small numbers, while quite a big offering of dairy cows and heifers was submitted. A good bench of buyers was present, and beef values maintained the levels ruling at Waikato sales recently. Store-quality and boner cows likewise elicited steady competition, and all sold at relatively good rates. The dairy market was firm, most interest centring on the better-lass early calvers. We quote: Forward fat 2i-year Hereford steers £9 Is to £9 9s, goodquality fat Shorthorn cows £8 5s to £8 15s, medium to light-weight fat Hereford heifers £6 to £7, lighterconditioned Shorthorn and Hereford cows and heifers £5 to £6, mediumconditioned Jersey fat cows £3 5s to £4 15s, light to store quality £2 10s to £3 2s 6d, heavy boners £1 17s 6d to £2 Bs, best Jersey dairy cows due August £7 5s to £B, medium sorts of dairy cows due early £5 15s to £6 10s, backward and inferior-quality dairy cows £4 10s to £5 10s, medium-quality Jersey dairy heifers £5 10s to £7, late backward sorts £4 5s to £5 ss.

OHAUPO STOCK SALE.

Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd. report having held their usual fortnightly stock sale at Ohaupo, where there was an average yarding of cattle. No prime cow beef was penned, while good quality cows were easier than at previous sales in the district. Quite a number of good dairies were offered, practically the whole offering changing hands at late rates. We quote: Good quality heavy cows £5 10s to £l4, medium £4 10s to £5 10s, lighter £2 15s to £4 9s, forward conditioned cows £3 Is, boners to £2 10s,. Jersey bull £6, Jersey springing heifers close to profit £6 15s to £9, choice Friesian heifers £7 5s to £7 12s 6d later calvers £5 15s to £6 10s, backward heifers £4 10s to £5 ss, calved heifers to £5 15s, Jersey cows close to profit £5 15s to £6 ss, later calvers £5 7s 6d.
