MORTGAGE ADJUSTMENT.

Sir, —As the mortgage adjustmer legislation is now to be brought for ward by the Government, I and man others would like to know if the sma mortgagee is to be consulted on thi matter in which he has a vital in teresh in many cases :1c is the sol means cf sustenance for a great num be.- of aged couples. Are the valua tion officers to judge on the return from each individual farm, or are al the circumstances of both mortgago and mortgagee to be taken into con sideration. The Pilime Minister say the value of the land is to be base:

on the guaranteed price, and an ef ficient farmer. Who is going to b judge of efficiency? Are those farm ers who, through working their farm: to the best of their; own ideas an not getting anything like the return of others, who work under differen methods, to be classed as thoroughl efficient? It appears to me to be a extremely difficult matter to adjust However, I trust that I and other who were workers and have our lif savings invested in farms which w have had to leave on account of ag and disability, will have our saving protected, as in many eases they !ar bringing in only £2 to £3 per Week minus taxes, insurance, house ren: etc. We should have some protectio and sympathy from a humane Gov eminent—l am, etc., MORTGAGEE. SOCIAL ORDER VANISHING. Sir, —Speaking in “Palmerston North Opera House” before a large audience, Dr Goard, the noted Empire Imperialist, said the world was at present profoundly disturbed because a civilisation was dying in Europe, even as one had done in Asia. Social order, not the people, was vanishing. From the earliest days down to Stalin, Mussolini, and Hitler, this civilisation had been founded on the militaristic basis. To-day. the spectre of 1914 was again in evidence, heralding a final crash. As long ago as 2520 years, God had promised the changes which should take place in 1918, in which year the empires had gone—China, Russia, Turkey, Austria and Germany. It was prophesied that these’ empires should be succeeded by those who had received power as kings, but were not kings—and there had been ten dictators in Europe. These had been prophesied as resolving ‘themselves into three groups making for war; and the world now witnessed Stalin, Hitler and Mussolini filling these positions. The next step would be the great battle of the Day of God Almighty, when all the forces of evil would be arrayed against the' time when God should establish His rule in Israel. Dr Goard declared that the Press of the world was heralding the fact that the Word of God was true. There was a call to-day for dedication to the service of humanity and the Kingdom, casting aside all misconceptions. As the Scriptures had predicted, the time was at hand when God would reign where the emperors had stood, His representative agency being Israel Britain, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, and Kindred nations.—l am, etc., BRITISHER.
