WAIPA RUGBY UNION

MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETS. Mr J. G. Wynyard (president) occupied the chair at the fortnightly meeting of the Waipa Rugby Union management committee on Monday evening, and also present were Messrs H. Worthington, G. Reynolds, R. L. Adams, T. Neylon and H. T. Haselden (secretary). The secretary reported an invitation from Cambridge Sub-Union to attend a special general meeting on the same evening, at which a delegation from Hamilton Sub-Union would attend to outline the basis of the in-ter-union competition in which Hamilton, Taupiri and Waipa are engaged this season.—lt is regretted that the meetings clashed, thus preventing Waipa being directly represented. Invitations to the president and secretary to attend the Cambridge Union’s annual ball on Thursday, 6th mst., were, received and accepted. An application on Behalf of the Waipa Primary Schools Union for a donation to assist in sending a team to the annual Roller Mills Shield tourney at Paeroa and Te Aroha during the August school holidays was received through the Junior Advisory Board. —It was decided to donate £2 2S. A donation of 10s was made towards the cost of' entertaining the Otorohanga school team which plays Te Awamutu to-day in the Teddy Shield final. Complaint was received from a Hairini resident that while travelling by bus to Te Awamutu on Saturday last a member of the Matamata junior rep. team threw a bottle out of the bus, narrowly missing the complainant. —The secretary was instructed to notify Matamata Union of the complaint. T. Dalziel’s application for re-grad-ing to junior status was granted. A fairly lengthy list of accounts, duly certified, was authorised for payment. The secretary, Hamilton Union, wrote regretting that at present no date could be arranged for the desired senior rep. contest, Waipa v. Hamilton, at Te Awamutu. The date suggested by Waipa, August 29th, is set down for a rep. fixture, Waikato v. Bay of Plenty, at Cambridge, and if this game takes place Waikato may object to the minor match on the same day. However, as soon as the Hamilton Union’s match committee has finalised the matter Waipa will be informed promptly.—Received. Kawhia Union’s secretary wrote: “In reply to your invitation to send a B senior team to Te Awamutu on August 22nd, I am instructed to state that, in view of the scattered nature of our district, and from past experience, to send a B senior team would be detrimental to the senior rep game Waipa v. Kawhia, at Kawhia, on the same day. Kawhia would do its best to send a team on any other date suitable to Waipa.—Received.
