Last Monday evening there Was a scsne of great enthusiasm in the Parish Hall, for a mlatch of indoor basket ball had been arranged between a team of players from St. John’s Girls' Club and a team of young men, known as the Vicar’s bachelor team. After a practice to “w’arm up,” the game started in earnest, and proved a most exciting match, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The Vicar acted as referee, which proved a very energetic task for it was hard for some enthusiastic players to realise that the rules of the game were not Rugby rules! The game ended up 11 fall. Cricket was then played. A largo tray of ice-creams at halftime was most welcome, and later a hearty supper was disposed of, everyone sitting j;ound in a jolly circle. It is understood the “bachelors” are making (arrangements to entertain the Girls’ Club team to a return match and supper in a few weeks time.
