AS REPORTED IN THE WAIPA POST ON 18th JULY. Advice has been received that the Government intends to erect a monument at Orakau to mark the site of the memorable battle. Sympahty with Mr and Mrs A. H. Storey is expressed throughout the district in the death of their infant daughter Jean. Te Awamutu Tennis Club has decided to approach other clubs with a view to forming a Waikato Tennis Association. The Rangiaohid Road Board met on Saturday, Mr D. Cavanagh presiding. There were also present Messrs Long, Melville, and Ramsay. It was considered unwise to spend more money repairing the bridge near the Anglican Church, and other local bodies are to be consulted in an endeavour to finance a new bridge. • A correspondent complains that the only asnhalt footpath in the town’s residential area is in the street leading to the residence of the chairman of the Town Board I Korakonui settlers last week formed a working bee and erected a new school. A blacksmiths forge has just c-pened in the district. Waipa Racing Club advertises a special meeting. It is felt that the Club can no longer maintain a separate existence.
