JUNIOR REP. MATCH. WAIPA v. CAMBRIDGE. The Independent report of last Saturday’s junior rep. match at Cambridge reads as follows: The teams were: ■Cambridg-e.—Box, Penell, Harvey, 0. Wallis, B. W|att, I. Brunskill, L. Kellv, D. Collin, I. Nieholl, S. Fraser, Colvin, A. Fell, F. Watson, W. Watson, L. Kidd. Mlaipia.—Dalziel, Bulford, Wal’d, Buckley, Allport, Diack, Bell, Bennett, McColl, Lawry, Wynyard, Martinviteh, Wiest, Emery, Hughes. Play opened evenly, neither side gaining any decided advantage, Buckley went close to scoring when he made a good run down the line, but he was well tackled by Box. Cambridge were penalised in a handy position, but Ward’s kick at goal went Wide. Waipa maintained an attack which included several promising back movements. Reward came when Diack cut through the field and sent Allport over. Ward’s kick failed. Waipa 3, Cambridge 0. Shortly afterwards Allport broke away from mid-field and support from Wiard saw the latter beat the defence to score. Dalziel converted. Waipa 8, Cambridge 0. A loose rush looked promising for Cambridge, but the ball beat Watt for the dead-ball line. Cambridge opened-their score early in the second spell as the result of a solo effort by Pennell. From ihis own 25 he kicked to an opening and following up, gathered in the ball at half-way and outpaced tlhe opposition to the line. Harvey failed with the kick. Wjaipa 8, Cambridge 3. Both teams had turns at attack but the Cambridge backs showed little cohesion at the all important stages. Relief came for Cambridge on .two occasions with free kicks in their own 25. After a spell of uninteresting play West came through with tihe ball at toe and in the final issue H. Wynyard scored easily. Waipa 11, Cambridge 3. Cambridge ha,d no show of victory the way they were playing, and although they held the opposition at bay for some time, Bell eventually dived over from a five-ya|rds scrum. Waipa 14, Cambridge 3. The Cambridige forwards exerted themselves somewhat just before time sounded and from a solid rush Watson scored. B. Watt converted. Wlaipa 14, Cambridge 8. Mr A. J. Dotdhin refereed.
