ST. JOHN’S GIRLS’ CLUB

HAPPY. SOCIAL EVENING. A small gathering of members met in the club room on Monday round a cheery fire. After a short business meeting a new glee group that is being formed among some of the club members was discussed. The first meeting is arranged for next Monday evening, and M>- J. T. North has kindly consented to be conductor. Fellow members took the opportunity of wishing Miss Gladys Ryburn a very happy future—her engagement having just been announced to Mr Howard Empson. Some games were organised by Misses Empson and Ryburn. A club member, Miss M. Hansard, gave a short but very instructive talk on dental diet. Mr Reese then gave a most interesting talk on islands in the Bay ot Plenty that he had visited some years ago. Particularly interesting were the photographs and his description of White Island. The gathering broke up after a dainty supper served by Misses L. North, L. Potts, L. Kerr and M. Hansard.
