BEES STOPPED PLAY.

Bad weather has spoilt cricket this season, but matches have been interfered with in the past by a variety of other things. In 1887 a game at Manchester was stopped by bees swarming around the wicket, and at Dover on one occasion by a bull charging full pelt across a sacred pitch. In 1892 a runaway horse and cart stopped the M.C.C. v. Yorkshire match at Scarborough; while there is the historic case of swallows holding up a Notts v. Gloucester match at Trent Bridge.
