WEDDING

COWLEY—BYGRA YE / Miss Evelyn Bygrave and Mr James Cowley, of Matamata, were married by special license in St. Luke’s Church, Mt. Albert, Auckland, on Tuesday of last week. The bride was attired in a smart tunic dress of grey and brown crepe de chene, with a smart hat to match. Owing to the indisposition of Mrs Bygrave, and the' absence of Mr 'S. L. Bygrave in Western Austraia, it was intended that the wedding should be a quiet one, but it was surprising the number of Matamata peope who had business in Auckland on that particular day. Miss Sybil McKenna, bridesmaid, wore .a very smart cinnamon brown morocain frock and black hat. i.Mr Basil Cudby was best man. About 14 close friends of the bridal couple, partook of a sumptuous wedding repast at the Albert Hotel on Tuesday afternoon, and Mr and Mrs Cowley left by the Limited on their honeymoon trip, the first part of which was to be to Palmerston North. A number of frieiids assembled at the Auckland railway station to see the bridal pair off, only to be met by an official who demanded platform tickets. It was already too late to purchase these, but this did not deter them, for a convenient hole was found in the fence, and Mr and Mrs Cowley were deluged with confetti and rice. Cheers were still echoing when the train left the station.

Mr and Mrs Cowley will continue to reside at Matamata.

The bride travelled in a smart navy blue serge costume with pretty hat to match.
